Jill Scott - Soul For Your Soul

Jill Scott - Love Rain
Jill Scott - Do You Remember
[From The Album "Experience: Jill Scott"]

Jill Scott is the real deal. Her intelligence and positivity remind us of what real "soul" music can achieve. Not merely a phat beat, some vocal pyrotechnics and a pretty face, (although they're all there...), Jill gets to the heart and soul of the matter with odes to love - real, candid love - family, womanhood, childhood and pride with a feel for the real. Moving beyond artifice is easy when you're keeping it real simply because you're real to begin with. She lays it down with sweet harmonies, easy beats, tasteful instrumentation and spoken-word style word poems. Jill Scott is candid. A refreshing voice in amongst "packaged" & nurtured entertainers. Jill Scott nurtures our soul instead. A big thanks for dropping such beauty from a beautiful human. Early in her career she performed at local Philadelphia live spoken word shows, and when I first bought "Who Is Jill Scott?.." I thought her voice sounded familiar. Maybe I can track down a compilation tape somewhere with her spoken word work. Anyone else have any? These tracks come from 2001's official "Experience: Jill Scott". Enjoy
